Located on the northern edge of the Cement Works site in Portland, the kilns are an impressive reminder of Portland's early industrial heritage. Built in the early 1890's they are subject to a preservation order.
The Bottle Kilns are the remnants of the early Cement making process and these are the first cement making kilns west of the Blue Mountains.
In 2010 a pathway to the kilns is being put in place to enable better viewing of this symbol of our early history.
